SA 283 Grade C plates and sheets are low-carbon steel with a carbon content of 0.24% max, manganese content of 0.90% max, phosphorus content of 0.030% max, and sulfur content of 0.030% max, which provides them with good weldability and formability. Their mechanical properties are tensile strength of 380-515 MPa minimum, yield strength of 205 MPa, and elongation of 20% (in 200mm), which makes them suitable for structural and general fabrication uses. These plates provide good impact resistance, moderate strength, and durability and are appropriate for bridges, construction, storage tanks, and pressure vessels.
