Carbon Steel F42 Forged Fittings are primarily composed of iron, with a carbon content usually ranging from 0.20% to 0.24%, along with other elements like manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, and silicon. These fittings boast a minimum yield strength of 42,000 psi (290 MPa) and a tensile strength of around 60,000 psi (415 MPa). Their mechanical properties make them well-suited for low to moderate pressure systems, offering good ductility, impact resistance, and weldability. The forging process enhances their grain structure and strength, providing better resistance to mechanical stress and fatigue compared to cast or fabricated components.
