When it comes to its chemical makeup, 4140 steel boasts around 0.38–0.43% carbon, 0.75–1.00% manganese, 0.80–1.10% chromium, and 0.15–0.25% molybdenum. After heat treatment, 4140 foil can achieve tensile strengths between 655 and over 1080 MPa, all while maintaining good ductility and fatigue resistance. It can be further enhanced through heat treatment or surface hardening techniques like nitriding. The foil’s design allows for easy fabrication, cutting, or stamping, ensuring it holds its shape and performance even under thermal and mechanical stress.
